Why does he bring singers to the show?

It's called the ACTOR'S STUDIO. Actor's there to discuss their craft and approach to acting. With that said, I completely understand if directors come to discuss how they work with actors, or creators of TV shows, and their ideas behind characters. But with music artists, they are not inviting James Taylor, Carly Simon, or Elvis Costello. No, it's P.Diddy and Bon Jovi. WTF!? Does that make sense to anybody, or it's just me?

I couldn't agree with you more. It's feasible when they invited Barbra Streisand, who is also an actress, a director and a producer. Diana Ross was also reasonable since she is also an actress. I don't understand why they have to bring singers who not only have absolutely no input on acting, but did not have vast acting experience. Inside The Actors Studio has really sunken down into the ocean.

I think Lipton has brought on singers like Elton John, Billy Joel and Jon Bon Jovi because at least these 3 have been involved in movie soundtrack and/or theatre productions involving their music. It is the same reason why Lipton brings on directors. The Actor's Studio school teaches all aspect of what is involved in the mediums of televion/movies and theatre. From acting, writing, directing and musical scores.
