Muffy's Voice

Has anyone else noticed that Muffy's voice has gotten much higher-pitched over the years? She's also smiling almost all the time when she speaks, even when she's upset about something. Just seems a little odd.

Smiling at unfitting moments goes well with my reading of her as having anti-social/sociopathic tendencies. Probably stuff she could get over with some work, though.

Interesting theory. Do you have any others?

I also find it odd she sounds so high pitched now, when Melissa Altro's speaking voice, while still relatively high pitched as well, is nowhere near as chipmunk-y.

As for her smiling in inappropriate instances, I just chalk it up to bad animation that plagued the show since season 12, and got worse with season 16.

Dang, I can't view the file on my computer.

You may be onto something about the bad animation. I'll watch a few pre-season 12 episodes when I can and see if I can spot the same thing. Thanks!

To each their own, I guess. Personally I find Muffy to be awesome. The show just wouldn't be the same without her.

And sometimes she talks in a monotone like there's some sort of mental retardation going on.

Explain.

Remember Arthur's Perfect Christmas? "I really don't need make-up. I'm already beautiful. But Francine could DEFINETLY use some!"

Man, that line was CLASSIC. So much shade thrown in that.
