Most depressing movie I have ever seen.

Enough said.

My top three most depressing films are this one, Big Fish, and Carrie. I wept like a child.

reply

Carrie is not as depressing as this one.

reply

To you. As someone who relates to Carrietta White in the core of my soul, I find her story to be the most heartbreaking ever told. Out of the three films I posted, Big Fish is the one that doesn't really belong.

reply

Even in depression, beauty can be found.

Really?? I couldn't watch the whole movie, stopped when she shoot him, because it was so depressing, and nothing to do with beautiful, as depressing as the movie "biutiful" not only depressing but disgusting, but I suposse is reality and sometimes reality is so sad, what for whatching more sad situations.

reply

Well the last half hour of this film is unbearably sad. The bit you watched was nothing compared to the end.

I'm going to find it and I'm going to destroy it. I don't know how yet. Possibly with dynamite.

reply

Watch 'the girl next door'. The one with abusive child stuff.

That is about as depressing as this one.

Try Requiem for a Dream, House of Sand and Fog, The Road and the documentary 'Dear Zachary: A Letter to His Son about his Father.'

Dear Zachary wrecked me.

Dancer in the Dark, Dear Zachary, and Magnolia are the most depressing films I've ever seen. I've seen a lot more, but those are the three that immediately come to mind.

Agree! Never felt so depressed and down after watching a movie... well Requiem for a Dream is up there haha.

reply

This and Lilya 4-Ever.
In terms of documentaries, yes (as others mentioned), Dear Zachary.

reply

God Lily-4-Ever honestly made me sick for a few days. It takes a lot to do that (well at that time), I like shock movies I want to see what the director intended. But that one was sooooo ugh..

reply

This movie and some of other movies I watched
Into the wild
Cold Mountain
Spoorloos
Never let me Go

reply

Def one of the most soul destroying films ever. Could never watch it again i was so depressed afterwards! On a list that includes ones previously mentioned such as Requiem for a dream id also say Grave of the fireflies on that. Big fish whilst i cry like a child at it is a happy film like Ikiru. Dancer in dark is just gut wrenching with nothing to take that away.

reply

Oh yes, Grave of the Fireflies. There's not a list I don't find of this calibre where it isn't mentioned. I've only watched it once.....once was enough (another that effected me for some time after). In fact I think it was this msg board that intro'd it to me, I also have the short story from a user here too.
