The Best Man Sequel (Coming Soon)

Um, not quite sure how I feel about this. The original was a pretty great movie, but it would nice (and interesting considering what went down in the film) seeing an update on the characters and their stories.

On the other hand, I'm not a fan of Hollywood's whole "Let's Wait 20+ Years To Make A Sequel, And See If Anyone Will Like It" approach with some films. And to be perfectly honest, the first film ended on a good and pretty solid note. I think the story was kind of closed after that, at least in my opinion.

Well, if it's good, it'll probably be really good. If it's bad, it'll be pretty bad. (Hopefully not on the level of Why Did I Get Married Too? in terms of a sequel?)

This time, Effie White's gonna win.

Whitney was wrong. Children are no longer the future.

I feel the exact same way, this is one of my favorite films of all time and I thought it was perfect as a stand alone film. However, I think it's great that Universal is putting money into a black film and I think it will be good to see everyone reunite and see where they take this new story. I mean if we can sit through numerous Madea movies, I don't think this will hurt urban film. I think it would have been nice if Malcolm (the writer/director) wrote an entirely different romantic comedy but for the exact same cast like how Gary Marshall did with Runaway Bride (Pretty Woman). But anyways I'm interested in this new film.

I have mixed feelings. I actually would like to see them do a sequel but I really hope they get a good writer to make it just as strong dynamic-wise and story-wise as the first. The question is....... how far after the last movie will they pick up from?....will it be 12 years later or a few years later? It's Best Man 2 which should mean that somebody else is getting married now. My money would be on Terrance Howard's and Melissa De Sousa's character especially since that's where the first movie left off. ANd the tension could be between Harold Perinneau's character and Terrence's since she used to be Harold's girl first (Even though he is now with someone else)
