Bad Influence

I just read this months Neo magazine and it said the following things about Pokemon. 'Fundamentalist groups railed against the franchise as it could be seen to encourage gambling and fighting.People with to much time on their hands claimed they could hear the words "i love satan" when the theme tune was played backwards.' Also it notes under the title 'Popey-mon' "The Vatican has announced that the trading-card and computer-game versions of Pokemon are 'full of inventive imagination,' have no 'harmful moral side effects' and celebrate 'ties of intense friendship.'" - from New York Post. 21 April 2000.

I went to a Protestant school where Pokemon was banned and that really upset me. The main reason it was banned was because the psychic pokemon upset the parents and preachers because they believe telekinesis and clairvoyance are of the devil. They would even hold services at their churches and destroy anything Pokemon. I even read about how a local pastor used a sword symbolizing the "Word of God" and sliced a stuffed Pikachu in half during a service. They didn't only attack Pokemon, but also Harry Potter, popular music, comic books, and video games. The last straw was when a class performed a skit that ridiculed Catholics. I got tired of have classmates and teachers preach to me so I transferred to a better Catholic school. As Cathoics, we see no harm in Pokemon or Harry Potter because they teach lessons about responsibility, sportsmanship, cooperation, friendship, and others. I'm not saying that all Protestants share these views, but those that scream "Evil!" when they something as simple as a ying-yang need to chill out.

Your movie today is "Track of the Moonbeast." It stars no one and features nothing.
