Why haven'T the original Subtitled versions released in the U.S.?

Hello, are there any people out there who know why the Originl Japanese version subtitled in English has not been released in the USA? I? there are any anime buffs out there, can you please tell me why? I am a die hard anime buff, and it is a pity the original Japanese Pokemon has not been released in the U.S. I think that 4Kids Entertainment should lose the rights to pokeon, and Viz or Funimation (distributors of Dragon Ball Z) sdhould then get the rights to Pokemon and release it on DVD with both the English and Japanese versions. Dont you agree with me about that?

Sincerely,

I'm with you dude. Although I stopped watching Pokemon on TV (I watch the movies when they come to DVD) about 2 years ago, I would love to see the original uncut versions here in America. I highly doubt there would be much to add, because the show is a kid's show in Japan am I right? What interest do you have in the uncut versions?

I have even heard that (just saying the name of this show is like acid in my mouth) Yu-Gi-Oh is actually a very adult cartoon in Japan. In the adult version Yugi smokes and stuff, its definitely not for kids, but the WB version is very child responsible. WHY DON'T THEY JUST PUT THESE SHOWS ON ADULT SWIM ON CARTOON NETWORK!?!

reply

yugi smokes ?he dont do dat in the manga either and yeah i want uncut pure episodes atleast show them in aduld swim like or in a special dvd.

o heres an intersting fact YOU MADE LOVE TO YOUR SISTER eurotrip

The reason that Pokemon will probly never be seen in uncut sub is because of its status as kids show. 4Kids is a business and if a show sells as it does here why would they risk alienating thier core fan base (Kids 4-12)? Also at the mere suggestion that FUNamation get the rights to Pokemon to shows that who havent the first clue of quality anime distribitors. FUNamation is infamous for hacking the hell out of anime. Hard core anime fan my ass.

yeah. In Crayon Shin-chan when Shin-chan doesnt get his way, in public he wips it out and does the pee-pee dance and in Japan it really is nothing more than a Fart joke. Accualty in Japan the kids shows are alot more mature than most americans give them credit for.

Even though Funimation cuts out a lot of scenes out of anime like Dragon Ball Z, they should distribute Pokemon because besides the cut English anime DVDs, They show the uncut original versions of Dragon Ball Z, YuYu Hakusho, the original DB, etc. Cheer up Nachtengel. Look on the bright side, man!

Why don't you just go home and sit on your mama's lap, ya litte baby?

reply

Not to be Uber-picky but FUNamation doesnt own the American licencing to pokemon 4kids does and they more than likely wont.
FUNamation knows that older teens and young adults watch DBZ and they can get more from delivering an uncut product.
4kids on the other hand are taking a very small gamble on saying that the older crowd does not watch pokemon therefore a small market wich might take away from the core buyers.
the bright side? GitS:SAC!

smoking yu-gi-oh! on adult swim.... interesting
uncut/ uncensored subtitled sailor moon would be nice too
same goes for dragon ball z (god, i hate the cut version of that)

reply

I definitely agree, I want to see completely uncensored/unrated/uncut Sailor Moon beacuse I heard the shows and movies were waaaaaay better and uncensored in Japan. I love that show and to go back and watch the old DIC cut episodes is like having an aneurysm (sp??). I have to see the PG-13/R episodes, I crave them, and no I am not a pervert, I am just for preservation of the directors/creators visions.

Get the uncut versions out pronto!!!! Not cuz of the lesbian thing I just want REAL UNCUT stuff.

Actually, uncut simply would mean none of 4Kids' paint edits and time cuts, so it would actually be better if you watched the raw (or for everyone elses sake, subbed) episodes. As I mentioned before they are floating around the internet somewhere, you just have to find them.

Unfortuneatly, no fansub groups have done the early episodes of Pokemon. It won't happen until a member of a fansub groups goes to Japan's amazon store & buys the DVDs from there to use for their RAW.

they got rid of soooooo many things in sailor moon cuz they made for kids in the dub while the original was for teens

Has anyone else seen the Season One DVD boxset on amazon.com?
It lists all the characters in Japanese. But it unclear as to which language the audio is and which language the subtitles are available.

English with Japanese subs? Or Japanese with English subs?

Also, not all of the episodes are there, although most of them are there.

I searched on the official Pokémon site and it was not there in their shop.

So I'm wondering is it legit.

Anybody else able to shed some light??

reply

shut up! subtitles suck! besides the voice acting, and basically the entire show is better in english! just like dragon ball z!
