Why is the rating so low?
Is the American dubbed version to blame, or does it have to do with the animation style or something else?
I just think that a 4.4 is a bit harsh. When I was younger, Pokemon was the only TV show I watched and I remember really enjoying it.
Granted, some of the episodes stories were somewhat repeatitive and at times corny, but I watched them anyway.
As far as animation, I thought its simplicity was beautiful. In fact, I was inspired to explore more anime genres and am now a huge anime fan. The combination of watercolor backgrounds with inked characters gave the show a certain warmness that is absent from more intense anime such as DBZ, Cowboy Beebop, and Trigun just for a few examples. Bottom line, the animation reflects the Japanese concept of beauty in simplicity which I really appreciate.
Today, as an adult, I still watch Pokemon occasionally to see where Ash/Satoshi and company are along on their quest and I still enjoy it. I still love to play the games as well; Pokemon Sapphire was the last game I bought but I certainly don't think it will be my last one.
To sum up, I really don't think Pokemon deserves such a low rating. I would imagine that most people who vote did watch the series at one time but have now grown out of it and are bitter because the world of pokemon seems inviting only to children now.
Does anyone else share my opinions? If not, that's okay too.^_^
Your movie today is "Track of the Moonbeast." It stars no one and features nothing.
