Is the Pirates of Silicon Valley the first movie about the rise of tech industry entrepreneurs? I can’t think of one that’s older. It’s also interesting how this film seems to have laid the groundwork for future tech movies (The Social Network, Super Pumped, The Dropout, etc.) making it one of the best ones.
I agree with you. I absolutely love this movie and I think it did lay some pretty nice groundwork. Some may argue "The Net" as an early tech-thriller. However, this one is more of a biopic of two industry titans (love them or hate them). Despite what critics said about "Jobs" in 2013 and "Steve Jobs" in 2015, I think those were great too. I'd like to see something about Microsoft despite Bill Gates being somewhat of a parody.
Yeah. I am sure they will make a movie about Bill Gates after he eventually dies, but what would the focus be beyond the early rivalry with Steve Jobs (already covered here and other films) and the development of Windows and Microsoft Office?
