Acting Weak, but a strong Script saves the film

I think the acting in this movie was much weaker than the script. Anthony Michael Hall has always been a little edgy in his acting. His delivery of lines is stale, and you know he memorized it beforehand. It does not come natural to him.

The guy from ER that played Steve Jobs did a better job.

actually what he's doing is playing bill gates i think. The "staleness" is nervousness in the way bill gates probably spoke as an unconfident youngster

If you've ever seen Gates speak in real life (just go to YouTube...), you know that Anthony Michael Hall did a *great* job acting as Gates. Similarly, Noah Wylie did an excellent job as Steve Jobs. So good, in fact, that the real Steve Jobs invited Wylie onstage during the keynote at MacWorld '99 where Wylie performed in imitation of him.

Anthony Michael Hall was Bill Gates in this film!!!!!!His acting was excellent. It wasn't weak.

Sometimes he looked like Darth Vader specially for the music

reply

wow, totally disagree - I think Hall did a GREAT Bill Gates. The two stars were both great; I didn't think Wyle had it in him. The only guy who was annoying was the sales guy with Gates.

I'm not really hungry, but I would like to have reservations somewhere.

The sales guy with Gates was Steve Ballmer. He is annoying. So if the actor annoyed you, he nailed it.

reply

yeah, steve balmer ... played by john di maggio - the voice of bender on 'futurama'. i thought he was totally obnoxious, the way he winks at the camera constantly, and you could tell he thought he was way funnier and more charming then he was by FAR. oh, and to add to the MISCASTING? john di maggio isn't even bald. you can so completely tell his dome was shaved; the grain was still visible, and the hair just sort of *ended*. rather than what im guessing it's supposed to look like. terrible!

You really have to hear it from the man himself to know how much hard work he had put into this.
