What was the 'point' that...spoilers

What was Greg's point? OK, he was a control freak who didn't want her to have her own place. I got that part.

But he doesn't appear to object to her keeping her job. Are we to assume he is working on her gradually, and will try to persuade her to quit eventually?

I think he made some kind of deal with Jane's working colleague Cheryl, who starts out as sort of a secretary and gradually works her way into Jane's chair as we see in the end. Seems like there won't be room for Jane much longer in that office.

Yeah, Cheryl is definitely shady. There was never any resolution to that but I first assumed she was sleeping with Greg. Now, I'm guessing Greg is actually paying her to take Jane's job.
