I just wanted to punch Malcolm when he said, "In your dreams?" To Cole about seeing dead people.
When Cole said, "I see dead people." Malcolm condescendingly asks him, "In your dreams?" And Cole just shakes his head. WTF? I would have grabbed him by the shoulders and shaken him if I were Cole but then again, I know Cole didn't have the strength; but here's the thing: Dr. Malcolm Crowe is not a peer about Cole's age or a classmate; he's a grown man studied, revered and celebrated in the world of child psychology. Cole is just a child, a traumatized, troubled child; deep in Malcolm's study. He tells Malcolm that he sees dead people. Malcolm should know the difference between dreams and reality! I'm not saying that people don't have nightmares, hideous nightmares and wake up crying, I'm not saying dreams can't be hard to tell from reality nor am I saying they can't having a lasting effect; but the troubles that Cole was faced with? Would just dreams do that to a child? I don't think so, I don't think it works that way, that's why when he asked if Cole sees dead people in his dreams, or graves or coffins I wanted to punch him, or slap him. It seemed that Malcolm doesn't know how dreams worked back in the day.
