2 questions: "missing" ghosts and penny scene (spoilers)

I have watched this movie several times and I had a chance to watch it again the other night, but two scenes keep bothering me, maybe some of you can help me figure it out. :)

In the scene where Cole says he sees dead people, I remembered the camera zooming out and a group of ghosts standing around the bed, but this did not happen when I watched it this time. Am I remembering this scene all wrong or have I maybe seen a different version before? Maybe I'm remembering something from another movie?

The scene where Malcolm says he can't be Cole's doctor anymore, Cole carefully puts a penny on the table and slides it towards Malcolm. This always puzzles me, why does he do this? I assume it has something to do with the "magic" trick from earlier? I'm probably missing something really obvious and I would be happy to have it pointed out.

This was never in the final cut of the movie.

Like Cole says, "some magic's real". He wants Malcolm to believe there are truly ghosts like Malcolm wanted Cole to believe the magic trick.

No problem. I wish I could help you out more with the first question, like maybe it was another movie or the trailer or a deleted scene, but all I know is that it's not in the final cut.

I also remember the hospital scene where the camera pulls out and we see tons of ghosts in the room with them. I think it's a scen that got cut from the theatrical release, which I guess is what they show in tv or online these days.
