Best Scene

For me it's Shelob's lair. The way it was directed and scored. It felt like a short horror film. Really upped the tension at such a dramatic moment - betrayal.

I'm pretty much torn between King Theoden's "Ride of Rohirrim" into war following his triumphant speech, and Gandalf's exchange with Merry with regards to the afterlife, when the Orcs pretty much had them cornered. There's so many great and memorable scenes in these films.

.......and Rohan will answer!

Tough question...for a scene, though I also love the Beacons, Faramir's death charge and Gandalf and Pippin's talk, I have to say the Ride of Rohan into the Pelanor Fields. "Epic" has never described a sequence better in any film. But as for single moments, there is no competition to Sam.

COME ON MR. FRODO. I CAN'T CARRY IT FOR YOU; BUT I CAN CARRY YOU!! *cue Grey Havens music and goosebumps*

That lovely, quiet scene when they're back in at the pub in the Shire, sitting there bittersweet, glad to be home but knowing they're not really part of it now. Then they clink their mugs.

That scene's so much more powerful than anything with Oliphaunts or pyrotechnics. Beautiful.

This is my favourite scene too! That violin solo is the best bit of music in the films too. I also love the moment right after with Frodo wandering his empty hallways, achingly sad. I wish they'd used his voiceover over the entire final chapter, would have made it all flow better.

That said I also really dig the Beacons and Faramir's last charge scenes.

Ditto to all those, absolutely---plus the opening, with Gollum's transformation.

And you know what's a strange one that's always stayed with me? That quiet little scene between Eowyn and Theoden, the morning they're about to ride off. When the sun's coming up and she's standing there heartbroken, and he says he wants her to smile again...the performance from her especially is something else.

I was going to add that to mine but I forgot. Brings tears to my eyes every time.

Ride of the Rohirrim is so epic it still sends shivers down my spines just thinking about it.

The moment when Aragorn is crowned king and he walks to the front of the hobbits and as they prepare to bow, Aragorn bows instead and says that the hobbits bow to no one. Beautiful.

Gandalfs speech about afterlife during the battle of Minas Tirith.

Frodo leaving the Middle Earth, true tear jerker.

Faramir leaving Minas Tirith to recapture Osgiliath, so moody and sad knowing he is doomed yet he still does it.

Gimli to Legolas: "Never thought I would die fighting side by side with an elf."
Legolas to Gimli: "What about side by side with a friend?"
Gimli to Legolas: "Aye, I could do that."

And then of course the "that still counts as one" quote when Legolas brings down the Mumakil.

Many more that I can't think of now. The trilogy is full of absolutely perfect scenes.

There are so many wonderful moments but my favorite is near the end : "My friends, you bow to no one".
