One of the better scenes in this pointless movie was him having a beer. But here's what i saw in the scene. He being inconsiderate & blocking one of the two Gas entry's & he being broke tipping the bartender 4 bucks for just 1 beer. and how the hell did the bartender know how to get to his brothers house way out in the country, i'd guess he probably had to drive his drunk ass home a night or two.

Alvin mentioned that Rose had left the kids to shop and a fire broke out at home causing social services to declare her unfit to raise them. If you studied the scene you would see IT WAS ALVIN who was supposed to be watching them but he was drunk. THAT is when he stopped drinking.
The elderly veteran was consoling him by admitting his errors and doubts while in combat.
Only a spoiled brat would call a reconciliation of feuding brothers pointless.
ill admit to not paying enough attention to the dialogue, and i thank you for clarifying what i maybe didn't understand about the scene & movie ππ
