What I really liked

was watching people who were old/elderly who looked it! They had wrinkles and mottled skin and stained teeth. The wrinkles on the actors' faces said so much, especially on the lead Richard Farnsworth, about them and their lives. It's fascinating to watch old people being old people (not like Harrison Ford trying to be bionic at 60-something), we don't see enough of them in films, particularly as the main characters.

...when I saw this film, I found myself thinking of the recent film "Nebraska". Both of them cover small town, rural living and featuring men in their golden years.
