I wish more Scooby Doo movies like this were made

Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island is without a doubt my favorite Scooby-Doo movie, and it got me to realize I didn't really like the original cartoons. There was too much slapstick, and I for one enjoy the darker tone taken with this and the following film, Witches Ghost. However, I am a little mad they decided to slowly make the films more "cartoony" with all the Scooby Doo slapstick and whatnot. Zombie Island and Witches Ghost are really the only Scooby Doo things (movies/tv shows) I like. I just wish they would have done more like this instead of reverting back to the old slapstick. Not bashing the slapstick, it just isn't my idea of entertainment.

If God didn't want us to eat the weak, then why did he make them so delicious?

I agree, this and Witch's Ghost were fantastic. I love the art and animation, and tone. I like how they both respect the source material and characters and improve on them and add depth.

I disagree with you. I liked Scooby Doo On Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost but I do like the old cartoons from the 70s. But if you liked Zombie Island and Witch's ghost you should check out Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School, Scooby Doo Meets the Boo Brothers, and Scooby Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf since they have real ghosts, Vampires, Mummies, etc. in them.

I've seen Ghoul School, Boo Brothers and Reluctant Werewolf, and while I liked them, I enjoy the darker Scooby-Doo as opposed to the original camp comedy.

My favorite is SCOOBY-DOO AND THE ALIEN INVADERS.
Not only do the kids FINALLY wear different costumes, but--for the first time--they're allowed to be HUMAN.
I especially loved the near-final scene where Shaggy and Scooby are saying goodbye to their lady-loves, and otherwise emotionless Fred bursts into tears.
Even Velma and Daphne were startled about that.

But the later three are campy as all hell, but, to each their own.

So basically, you're not a Scooby-Doo fan. You just like those two films, and that's it.

Zombie Island is definitely my favorite Scooby-Doo film as well. Being a huge zombie fan probably contributed a lot to that. However, it didn't make me realize that I don't like the original cartoon, but rather showed me that Scooby-Doo could go a little dark and be more mature. Yeah, it's a bit of a shame that it reverted to the old slapstick comedy after Witch's Ghost but you know what? It is what it is. That's what how the franchise started.

I agree. I love this movie but i also clearly have loved all the other incarnations till Get a Clue and MI.

But to even add another depth to that disconnect, that style is kind of the trademark of Scooby's extended cartoon family as well. But really not sure how someone could only like two movies when they still use trappings of the style just try to keep a little darker storyline. But then again it's not like other shows from the same company also did the same thing within the 90s. But again the bigger picture never really went away, if anything they just emphasized something more than before, but the basic parts that make it Scooby Doo are all still there.
