So she had a little boy who most of the guys in the village thought they were the father of the child.

She knew who the father was but led everyone to believe she didn't know to string them along and the actual father was the old guy lottery winner that died.

She was going in for a relationship with the reformed "playboy" type only because he had just come into some money and had a farm passed down by the death of a family member. She would probably be miserable in this relationship but he had money so.

The guy she actually loved or liked the most in her own weird way definitely thought he may have been the father, he chased her around like a puppy dog but she wouldn't commit. But now that money wasnt a problem he was ok and she committed to the one she really wanted, but still led him on to thinking he was the father when she knew the whole time he wasn't.

She confided in the main character about the kids real father and they both agreed to keep quiet about the truth to keep the young guy in his place.

So she was manipulating everybody, keeping the kid from knowing who his real father was, keeping the kid from having a father at all, about to commit to a relationship she and the kid would probably be miserable in because one man had a little bit more money than the other.

And young fun guy was only ok NOW when a bit of money was around and the playboy type with the farm got shut out because his money wasnt needed anymore.
