Who played the younger version of Terence Stamp in the flashbacks? Is it himself in some old footage? or some effects? It looks very like him ....

Its him, he was quite famous in the UK in the 60s, so there are plenty of photos and films that he was in.

The footage of young Wilson is from Ken Loach's 1968 film, Poor Cow.
