...was that all of the bad guys in this film were elderly men. Cue nice touches like them huffing and puffing up stairs in pursuit of Ghost Dog or sleeping during meetings etc. I also found it amusing that they were forever watching cartoons.

I was inspired! : Ghost Dog: The way of the samurai (1999 DVD): I can’t put the finger on what exactly made this such a perfect watch for me but every single scene had something good to offer. It has a good pacing, solid acting, cool characters and unique cinematography but its greatness lies in something impalpable, something indescribable. The story is traditional yet, peculiar, the hero is torpid yet larger than life. Anyways, I didn’t know so many dudes lived with pigeons on building rooftops. Jarmush is a hit and miss director for me but this is ma fav from him now. It was about time I saw it. 9/10

That's an excellent review and I agree that the film has something, a strangeness which makes it particularly memorable but which is hard to put one's finger on. I really admire Jarmusch and would rank his films thus:

5. Mystery Train
6. Down by Law
7. Only Lovers Left Alive
8. Night on Earth
9. Broken Flowers **the only one I didn't like, I need to give it another shot, I guess.
I must catch up with The Dead Don't Die soon...
Broken flowers with Bill is really good. I almost like it more than Trans probably because Broke is more about Bill and Bill is such a great artist. Its also highly rewatchable and has a great soundtrack.
