Don't forget "Le samourai", one of the multiple references in this great movie.

The film contains a number of references to Seijun Suzuki's Branded to Kill.

Bobby D in the Taxi Driver. His motivations were different but he was a loner and lived in similar conditions. When he drove his cab he looked out his window observing the surroundings much like Ghost Dog did when he drove around in the cars he boosted. Both went on a final mission where they wasted lots of criminal element. Both were kind to young girls. Both of them had one friend (Bobby D had fellow cabby Peter Boyle, and GD had Raymond the ice cream man). Travis Bickle was always providing a voice over of his reflections just as GD provided a voice over of Samurai philosophy.

Nice!
John Ford’s The Searchers and Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver have many things in common too. Scorsese has even said that The Searchers had a great impact on Taxi Driver. As actors, DeNiro and John Wayne, don't even have similar "acting styles ".

THERE IS A BETTER WORLD ... BUT is expensive.

Stoic-killer/philosopher types there are many

'The Mechanic' 1974 Charles Bronson

'The Day of the Jackel' 1973 Edward Fox

'No Country for Old Men' 2007 Javier Bardem

'Seven Samuari' 1953? all seven characters

The Killer, by John Woo, is also related to Le Samourai and Ghost Dog, the main character is similar as well. :)

Was about to mention Drive. I think everyone who liked that movie will adore this.

"Where do you want to go?"
"Wherever you want to take me."
