Ghost Dog character inspired by 'Le Samouraï' (1967)

I just finished watching the French film "Le Samouraï" and it's very clear that Jarmusch was inspired by it when he wrote Ghost Dog. There is no doubt about it.

Check it out. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062229/

Fortunately, Jarmusch does not "rip off" the story from the French film. Instead he borrows the archetype of the main character and writes an original story to go along with it.

Jarmusch borrows heavily from both Le Samourai and Seijun Suzuki's Branded To Kill.

Yes both films but le samurai particularly; the girl witness, birds as buddies, car theft tools, the honorable death, the code, mob retribution after initiating the train of events. All three are great movies
