Cooling Towers
Literary local color or more? The image of the three nuclear cooling towers is in several shots, so I could not help wonder the significance (Holy Trinity or mother, father, baby)?

shareExcellent observation! I just though the towers were a beautiful image that is vaguely threatening, representative of Hilditch, who provides shelter, but may not be all that safe. But I like your explanation better.
Egoyan's films generally have abstract images that aren't really related to the plot, but allow us to use our imagination.
And this isn't related to your question, but it reminds me of another point: Didn't it seem that for a catering business that supposedly serves gourmet fare, Hilditch works in a pretty bleak factory? So there's another contrast: fine food, dreary atmosphere.
