I was wondering if anyone else had noticed the strong similarities between the storyline of"Stuart Little" and the storyline of "Oliver Twist". If so, do you think it was intentional?

In the original book, Mrs. Little actually gives birth to Stuart, who happens to be a mouse. I have no idea why they changed it for the movie, because the original story has nothing to do with an orphan/adoption theme.
shareI can guess at a few reasons why the story might have been altered, but most likely for my money, it was because the idea of a woman giving birth to a mouse was a little too avant-garde for the squeamish studio executives. Silly really, but that's them all over.
