Paul Williams + Eddie Kendricks have 'an attitude'?

In the following scene where Melvin Franklin meets up with Otis Williams after The Distants disband, Melvin excitedly informs Otis that he's found "a singer & a dancer". When Otis hears they are Paul Williams & Eddie Kendricks, a stream of disappointment showers Otis's face, & he says "I don't like their attitude(s)". After seeing their onstage performance as The Primes, I found Paul & Eddie's showmanship to be quite tasteful & professional & devoid of an attitude in every form. Why would Otis think these guys have an "attitude"? If you remember Otis Williams & The Distants, Al (a.k.a. "Bones") constantly had an attitude, as he was always complaining!

Larry Appleton: "I have..."
Balki Bartokomous: "Oh, God!"
Larry Appleton: "...a plan!"

They were kind of arrogant. They had tons of confidence which is fine but I think they were supposed to come off as a little snooty. At least in Otis' eyes. Otis was jealous but he had a point I think as Paul did when Eddie complimented them and then Paul criticized them about their lack of dance moves. He didn't mean onstage, he meant in their approach to the others.
