Book VS. The Movie SPOILERS

Just got the book and I'm not done reading but I thought I post some differences as I read (after all you can't expect me to remember everything after I done)

1.Al the drunken trouble maker was actually a different member of the group who was kicked out due to his bad temper and addiction to corn syrup. Not saying Al wasn't kicked out for the same reason but I'm not there yet.

2.In the movie Barry Gordy seemed like he already had his business up and running. In the book he had a few clients but he was just a local guy. Otis knew of him because he would see singers go in and out of his HOUSE (not motown) but Barry Gordy although knowing what he was doing was still fairly new to the game.

3.The book doesn't mention all the silly names before coming up with the Temptations. The book breezes by it "we tossed names back and forth" the temps thought the name was silly because they figured the way they were dressed they weren't going to "Tempt anyone"

4.Richard street was in and out of the group because of a girlfriend not because of the blow up with Johnny Mae.

5.Otis speaks highly of Johnnie Mae and she had a singing group. She did however keep the name, records, and car but from Otis tone...he really didn't care.

6.David Ruffin actually met the group when they were still Otis Williams and the Syberians. Really he just peaked in while they were singing, met them and left.

7.Eddie REACHED OUT to Otis about joining and asked if Paul can join too. Otis admits as the Primes he thought they were amazing and better than his group so when Eddie asked he was MORE THAN HAPPY to accept.

I'll post more when I read more...

I wish I can go back in time and pinch those chubby little cheeks and tell you nothing will be ok.

I'm reading The Supremes -- Colly Atkins (correct last name?) wasn't on the scene until 1966-67 in order to polish The Supremes and it states that The Temptations also benefited tremendously from him.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...
