They seem to be great friends but how could Eddie let David play him like that? Paul seem to be a great friend for him not David. Paul and Eddie have always been my fav in the group they move good and sound good in the movie the actors that plays them looks good I mean man, they're fine anyway. Eddie should of stayed in the group and not listen to David, Paul was the better friend towards Eddie then David ever was. But I guest Eddie like that bad guy image he has on him, so am I the only that feel that way? If so or not then let me here your throughts on them.
Yes, not if he's going to introduct you to colcain then no he wouldn't be a great friend even thought they're grown Paul wouldn't talk that way about Oat and Blue the way Daivd did. Paul may had a drinking problem but he still was a better friend towards Eddie.
In truth David did not introduce Eddie to Cocaine. Just cause guys work together does not make them all great friends either. Neither Eddie, David nor Dennis were big friends of Otis and Melvin anyway.
If I should fall asleep and death takes me away don't be surprised son, I wasn't put here to stay.
According to what I've read that Paul and Eddie grewup together so that makes Paul and Eddie great friends, at first Eddie did like Otis and Melvin but I've guest later down the line he disliked them.
So if David didn't introduce Eddie to Cocaine then who did? Eddie just didn't like how things went in the group that's all that was,I still feel that Paul was the better friend towards Eddie though not saying he should of stick to Paul and have nothing to do with the others but if he or she was a better friend towards you then I don't see why not.
Friends can disagree on issues. They often do. Paul was sick from sickle cell too. Not just the drinking. By the time they got famous David and Eddie were the front men. Paul was mostly a background singer. So Eddie and David probably bonded a little more because they were focused on more.
I don't know who introdueed Eddie to coke, but in those days, well even now, coke is everywhere. According to sources none of them were angels. Not even Melvin and Otis.

I'm sure Paul was jealious of that friendship though that also happens to the best of friends, I'm sure Eddie wrote a song in the memorry of Paul because after all that was his best friend. But still Paul and Eddie are my favs from the Temptations though I love there song that they sang before they made it big Mama I love that song and Eddie's song Paradise twos are my fav but Paul song I Want A Love That I can See and other one of my favorites. I have others as well like You're My Everything, My Girl, The Girls Aright With Me,Just My Immagtion, etc I have whole lot of favs from the Temps. But I still feel that Paul and Eddie were the best of friends and Paul was the better friend for Eddie though, even though they disagree at times I wonder did Paul and Eddie ever got back together as friends again?
Paul and Eddie were always friends. Eddie even tried to Paul record his own album after thy were out of the tempts, but Paul was just so far gone. He was sick and a drunk. He couldn't perform and needed an oxygen tank to breath after shows. Eddie did what he could. Paul then went and died, and Eddie was left to mourn him.
Another thing, don't let this move distort the facts and the way things really were. All of them dig drugs at one point or another, except maybe Melvin, and none of them were saints. David and Eddie were close because they were the upfront lead singers and paid more attention to Motown and the money. After David left Eddie didn't like the way they were treating the tempts at Motown and no one would listen to his pleas so he left.

Erica I agree that Paul was the better friend, but I think that after Paul killed himself, he was kind of lost; David sensed this and used it to his advantage in getting Eddie to come over to his side and leave the group. I've seen this movie a hundred times and never get tired of seeing it. I remember them and other Motown greats when I was in high school and I remember noticing that Paul's eyes were sometimes red in pictures he took with the group...now I know why.
I read many years ago that in books and movies an odd amount of people in a relationship symbolizes instability and even numbers represents stability. Take The Temptations ... please. There were five Tempts. And those relationships were sometimes close and often stormy. Then there are The Four Tops. Levi Stubbs, Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Renaldo "Obie" Benson and Lawrence Payton remained together for over four decades, having gone from 1953 until 1997 without a change in personnel. Stubbs turned down several offers for a solo career out of loyalty to his bandmates. I heard The Tops were always very close friends.
