Does anyone know why Paul

Took to the bottle? I saw this twice and still can't fathom it. He takes a drink on the tour bus and then suddenly he's a raging alchie?

He had sicke cell, that may be the reason why he becaome an alcohol to hide the pain he was in (I think I read that somewhere). Yeah they show him drinking milk at first on the tour bus and turning down the alchohol then on another tour they show him trying just a little bit of alcohol then he became an alcoholic after that. It probably didn't happen the way the movie depicted it.

Not sure why anyone has any addiction. It's just so sad. Most families have 1 or so. I know I have some on both sides of our families. As someone once said no one grows up wanting to be an addict. I so wish our government would do more in controlling the borders and also wish they would tax alcohol like they do cigarettes. Both destroy ones health just like illegal drugs do.

If Paul did drink from the pain then that is even worse because some doctor should have been able to be of more help prior to his alcohol issues.
I thought in watching the real Paul in his video's that he looked happy. Had such a nice smile too. Sometimes there is such inner torture that some are capable of hiding.

R.I.P. Paul ~ you are not forgotton.

I concur that alcohol and cigarettes are very unhealthy.

Isn't alcohol already heavily taxed?

Yes, when I read that he had sickle cell anemia I thought that he was self-medicating. From what have heard sickle cell is a very painful disease.

In his book Otis Williams says that Paul would tell him "Man, I just feel so bad." But he wouldn't go to the doctor for the longest time.

You're pretty much right - the pain and struggle of touring made him take to drinking and he got hooked.

The Temptations will always be one of my favorite groups and I still enjoy watching this movie but it is really strange how the information available about the Temps differs from the movie.

it was touring and his sickle cell disease which at the time had no cure, it does now though. and he was in immense pain from it. so he took to the bottle and his death is still a question of debate. it could be suicide as the film shows or he could have been killed the answer to that has never been answered sadly.
