Does anyone know if the 4hr full version of The Temptations is available for sale? I have searched and cannot find it. Only the 2hr is available.
4hrs should be 240 minutes, yet all I find are 150, which is more than 2hrs, yet not the 4hrs. I would love to see the whole mini-series.

The miniseries runs four hours with commercials (approx. 6 minutes of commercials per half-hour). WIthout them, it runs a trifle under 3 hours. The DVD contains the entire miniseries.

VH1 had the full mini-series on 2-5-2012. It was a full 4 hours. The commercials were very short, not like they are today.
I have the DVD and what is in the mini-series is not in my dvd. I've noticed there are a few different dvd versions.
Anyway, I sooooooooo enjoyed watching the mini-series.
So talented they were and such a loss to all. )<:

The first version I saw was only 2 hrs. Both include commercials, but the 4 hour shows how the Temptations came to be from very young. It is such a great movie, but so much sadness in their lives. All 3 died so young, but such great talent in their short lives.

Now, I've never seen this miniseries on TV, but from the reviews I've read, the VHS copies were edited, but the DVD copies were not.
The copy have is a Region 1 DVD that runs 174 minutes (two hours, 54 minutes). It begins with Otis and Al Bryant at the Cadillacs concert and spends the first 40 minutes (1 hour on TV w/ commercials) on the group before they sign to Motown.
The split in the two halves (the firing of Ruffin) happens dead in the middle of the film as it should (1 hour, 24 minutes in).
What scenes in the TV version are missing on your DVD?
I just ordered the DVD 175 minute version, which seems to be the four hour version. If you take into consideration the commercials and the second part's recap, this works out.
There is a dvd of 150 minutes on Amazon that I avoided because of the editing, but further research brought me to the 175 version on Amazon.

Ive had the VHS for ten years and yeah it was way edited. My brother just bought me the dvd for my birthday and I watched it last night, was so happy to see all the footage.
