The Temptations Managers?

What do fans think of The Temptations managers? Johnnie Mae Matthews seemed like a music business cliche. Shelly Berger seemed a little more interesting. Berger also managed The Supremes and The Jackson 5. I got the impression Berry Gordy preferred dealing with Berger instead of directly with the Tempts. Was Gordy like that with most Motown acts? If Berger was very close with Gordy would that be a conflict of interest? In the late '70s Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin fired Berger. Berger was brought back a couple years later when the group returned to Motown. And I think he still manages them.

I give Gordy so much credit with what he built and how what he built totally changed the landscape of music (integration).

But Because of alllll the lawsuits, squabbles, departures,...at Motown during Gordy and almost all over $$s; it's apparent he did so running over those great artists, at least to me.

And I bet the only way the Bergers, Smokey (too unfortunately), De Passe,...could be around was them being involved in it too.

Not nearly as bad but I have him on par with Joe Jackson and Ike Turner,..their abuses created genius.
