Gene and Morgan, PLEASE

First you have Gene Hackman's character making a long speech about how it only makes SENSE to be a pedophile. "Skin the way it's supposed to feel."

Then you have him walking away, free, with no consequences to admitting he is a pedophile and child-molester -- his niece, if no one else.

And then you have this whole movie adding up to OOPS, we're out of time, that's a wrap, we just won't have an ending.

I don't know the sort of people Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman are, but as actors, I would not think they would want to be associated with a film whose main character is an unrepentant pedophile whose confession seems to upset nobody.

Since people in IMDB forums love Larry Clark, they'll defend this film, too.

And the beat goes on.

You must have missed the ending. After Henry, in desperation and dejection, confesses to the murders, the real killer is caught. Henry is not a child molester. That's the whole point of this film. He is pushed into revealing aspects of his private life, and thoughts, that he would prefer to keep private. On the basis of this he is detained "on suspicion". He visits young (consenting) prostitutes and surfs chat rooms because of his wife's coldness and jealousy, and takes photos - his hobby. That's it - no murders, no molesting.
I don't recall Henry saying it makes SENSE to be a paedophile. In fact, he is deeply distressed at the thought that his wife believes he may be guilty of such a crime. He talks about how he likes girls, and implies that's what men like - including Victor, who doesn't disagree.

That is, if you haven't completely made up your mind.

I have no idea who Larry Clark is, so can't comment. But I will defend this film.
