A very ironic tale

The whole film Richard narrates how he hates the 'tourists' and is glad to keep the island a secret from people and yet this movie destroyed the 'paradise' beach by flattening the land (to the point where locals were happy that the tsunami restored the beach) and encouraging floods of tourists to the islands.
I've travelled around Thailand myself but tried to stay away from the party islands and stuff so it's just an observation really, thoughts?

That's not that ironic because the vastly superior book it is based on did none of that. And it's kind of the point that even in "paradise" people inevitably bring their own crap with them.

I travel all the time, but I NEVER go near a beach resort. When I was in Thailand, I never left Bangkok. You don't need to go to the islands to party if that's all you want to do.

Yeah that's what Daffy was trying to say.
