Leguizamo SEVERELY miscast as Vinny

Leguizamo is simply TOO "latino" to pull off an Italian from this neighborhood (I grew up around these douches back in the late 70s/early 80s)...especially one named VINNY!

Al Pacino pulled off a slightly better Puerto Rican in Carlito's Way then Leguizamo as an Italian in this flick...just doesnt work!

He was fine as an italian. Don't know what you're talking about.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...

sorry moosefeathers, but I take it you haven't been around Italian NYers from this era. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Leguizamo, he's just severely miscast in this movie!

I am an italian New Yorker. I reiterate, I don't understand what you're talking about.

Couldn't agree more, the entire film was miscast and a total mistake in my opinion. Would have been handled better by a more creative film maker.

Yeah that was stupid

I am a Philly Italian and loved the movie. The only downside to leguziamo is that he is obviously Latino, but that is not hard to get past. I must note that lees portrayal of italians here is the most stereotypical I've ever seen lol. But the movie was about the summer of 77 in nyc, not Italian Americans.

I grew up around Latinos in L.A. and although it was hard to believe Leguizamo as an Italian, he pulled it off. Him and Mira Sorvino did kind of make an odd couple though; she's just a little too hot for him.
