The Ending Wasn’t Ambiguous

The end isn’t as ambiguous as it seems. Or ppl claim it to be. The wings on her car were a direct sign linking to the wings on the FedEx box. He goes back to her house. Or she sees the note and sees his name and contacts him. In fact in the original script when he delivers the package it’s supposed to be opened by the woman at the door where she reveals the contents including a package of items with a letter to attempt to save a failing marriage. A sign the marriage wasn’t destined to be saved. They wrote this ending out bc it would’ve been too convenient for him to just immediately meet someone else on her doorstep but the implication with the ending they did go with wasn’t really ambiguous at all. Not to me anyway.

If you pay attention thru-out the movie, the clues are there that he is meant to be with Bettina at the end. The Elvis music is a pretty big clue.

My fantasy ending for this movie is that he gets in his car and follows Bettina in her pick-up truck back to her place and they end up together. They eventually marry. Then while on their honeymoon, they are walking along a beach somewhere when all of the sudden a wave rolls over Chucks feet and there is Wilson, who washes up ashore...because you never know what the tide will bring...
