I used to love this movie when I was a kid, but this has been bugging me for awhile. Let's face it, the finals race between Val and Brink was a really dumb idea by someone who had no concept of team sports. At the end the contest shifted from "who is the best team" to "which of the top 2 teams has the best skater." It was the equivalent of having the NFL play through the regular season, then having the quarterbacks of the two best teams square off in a throwing contest to decide the league champion. The first 90 minutes were great, I just wish this movie had a better (and more realistic) ending.

The movie is one of my favorite teen movies but about the race, It was so obvious Brinker was going to win the race and the bad guy Val would finally had fallen. So typical and so obvious.
