Jasmine
Can someone explain the whole Jasmine saga? I tried watching the show and still don't understand.

shareBasically Charisma Carpenter got pregnant and Firefly got cancelled so Joss wanted to use one of his actors from there. The result is the worst storyline in the show.

Maybe they should have put the filming on hold until after Charisma had her baby in real life.
Impossible. A television show is contracted to produce a certain number of episodes per season. Angel's number was 22.
Sure, they had different commitments. It really all comes down to what's negotiated and agreed upon at the beginning of the season.

Jasmine was one of the Powers that Be. She manipulated events so she could be born into our world and be worshiped and adulated.
Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.
At what point did Jasmine start manipulating Cordy? Was it in season 3 at some point?
shareSorry for my wise-ass response earlier, but I couldn't help jabbing at the nondiagetic reasons for why the Jasmine arc was my least favorite part of the show. As for you question here, it's debatable. Some say Cordy was under her control right after "Spin the Bottle". However, there is some evidence that says it could have been a more gradual or subtle taking of control after that. Skip says she's been influencing all of them for years, though. Should we believe him?
shareIt was in season 4 when she came back from a higher plane. Lorne's spell in Spin the Bottle seems to be what awoke her.

I wonder if the possession aspect was always intended to be there, or if that aspect only came in after Charisma got pregnant.
shareI've read rumors that Cordy was always going to be possessed. That she would be the big villain for season 4. And that the final battle would be Angel against Cordy, which would be a switch from Angel vs Buffy, where Angel was the villain and his love was the hero. This time, he'd be the hero and his love would be the villain.
It would've also been a good pay off to Cordy asking Angel to train her in case she ever had to fight him.
Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.
I wonder if it would've ended up with Cordy surviving and being freed.
shareIf Joss hadn't thrown a tantrum about Charisma's pregnancy, she probably would've.

If she never got pregnant Cordy would've probably survived.
