If Mary Fuer HAD been murdered by her husband...
why would she haunt Claire, a women she hardly knew and had nothing to do with? Kinda silly of Claire to think that she would've been haunted by her.

shareTotally agreed.
They tried to make the 2 women as friends, fighting together against the evil man. Just like that.
Maybe because claire would have been the last person she would have talked to (besides her husband) before she died. And claire was nearby and seemed concerned for her wellbeing
shareGhosts aren't real so there is that. But, if they were I would say they might be a lot like people. They are a bit lazy so they contact the people closest to them in a physical sense, someone like a neighbor. Also, if she was murdered she was likely abused a lot first, so in that case she would possibly be isolated and/or estranged from her family, so they wouldn't be much help now would they. Also according to the "rules" of psychic powers not everyone can see the dead, so perhaps Claire has that gift and no one that Mary Fuer knows does. Same rules and logic for the actual murder victim.
shareGuy, really, we know ghosts are not real. We're talking within the boundaries of What Lies Beneath Land.
shareBecause Claire was next and Madison felt guilty for what she'd done with Claire's husband, or needed to save Claire before she could move on? Mary might have had a similar story. Claire was still unraveling what was going on when she was investigating the Fuers' troubles.
