Missed the point

The reason this doesn’t work is because they messed up the concept and the moral of the story. They should have cast an unattractive actress to play the unattractive "test subject” and somehow made her seem more attractive in other ways which makes the other lead fall for her. They connect in ways besides physical or lust during the film.

Instead, they cast a hot actress to play an attractive characters who doesn’t know or care if she’s attractive. Then all they did was reveal that she had huge boobs and suddenly the other characters started drooling over her. It's pointless.

What's the moral? "If you're hot, go ahead and show it and you'll find love. But if you're not, you're just out of luck"?

Same thing with the story we tell our kids about the ugly duckling.

The ugly duckling gets made fun of for being different, but then grows up to be a beautiful swan. The reality is that the ugly duckling most often grows up to be an ugly duck. The moral should be that it doesn't matter and that everyone has value. But that's not how these play out.

Agreed, beauty is overrated.

Or a good saying about it (not directed at YOU personally...I don't know you):
"Beauty fades, stupidity remains."

I’m sorry but Rachael Leigh Cook was never hot. My main problem with this movie was that character didnt become hot and pretty with make up. She became just ordinary.

There is a reason why her career went nowhere after this movie while Pal Walker and Freddie Prinz went to star in other big projects. She lacks charisma and prettiness.

reply

Disagree. She was very hot. Just a bad actress.

Hollywood’s history is littered with hot women who’s careers went nowhere for a variety of reasons.

reply

Well we have a different taste. That was my biggest problems always with that movie. Her not being hot and pretty enough to be believable after her transformation.

reply

SHE IS ATTRACTIVE AND TALENTED.

My comment will be coming from a person who has only seen the last 20 minutes of this movie (last night) and haven't seen the actress in anything else (I'm an old dude - watch mostly old reruns!).

But you are 100 percent absolutely correct. Now, to a guy who's 66, one may argue that any woman that age might seem beautiful, but the actress I saw was gorgeous. She has a beautiful symmetry to her face. Why wouldn't any young man fall for her at least looks-wise?

They should have found an actress who was average looking at her best. Would our hero have fallen for a plain Jane face? Maybe, but he was never given the chance.

reply

THIS IS A HIGH SCHOOL MOVIE...UNATTRACTIVE ISN'T A REALISTIC LOOK FOR THESE KIDS...HER TRANSFORMATION IS ABOUT SELF CONFIDENCE...NOT LOOKS.
