I saw this movie a few years ago in class, I was wondering, what did Guy Pearce say the life expectancy for a soldier was?

The first time Col. Hodges (Tommy Lee Jones) asked Maj. Biggs (Guy Pearce) that question Maj. Biggs said 2 weeks. The second time Col. Hodges asked the question Maj Biggs said 1 week. Col. Hodges replied that it was "16 minutes when dropped in a hot LZ".
