Would you do it?

If you were in the same situation, would you order your troops to open fire?
I have to say....Yes,I would.
I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, and no,this is not because i'm an american and support Bush(because i'm not American, but i respect America though, and I hate George Bush.)

reply

Absolutely . . . I can't remember the publication, but a civilian pointing a weapon is no longer a civilian.

reply

Yeah, agreed.
I'd rather blast them to hell than lose my friends.

reply

I would order them to fire...

reply

Anyone here who says they wouldn't is retarded. Yeah, I would do it, and I wouldn't feel a pang of remorse. If it comes down to civilians or my men, there's no contest.

reply

Not only would of I ordered it, I would of done it alot sooner than in the film.

"I'm goin' to war...with every one of them carpetbaggin' sons a B!#+c#es!"

reply

Anyone who wouldn't is unfit to lead men or hold a position of power.

reply

Yes but slightly differently:

Order the Platoon's Designated Marksmen (1 per fireteam so 9 Marines) to engage the snipers.

Order the Light Attack Helicopter (AH-1 Cobras) Element aboard the LHA on red 5 to launch to provide security to the LZs (which were vulnerable once the Marines were inside) as well as additional show of force.

Order the AV-8 Harrier element on red 5 to begin low altitude flybys deploying flares over the crowd.

Have the Marine Security Guard Detachment (can't order, they are under the command of the Regional Security Officer from DoS) set up a defensive position at the gate where the ram is trying to breach. Use the MSGs because they have close quarter weapons and it lets your Platoon's DMs on the roof continue to engage the snipers plus maintain over watch.

Order the rest of the Heliborne Company and TRAP teams (of which 1 Platoon is on the roof) to launch and hold and maintain altitude 1000 AGL over the embassy to hold as a reserve to reinforce the embassy or conduct aircraft recovery operations in the city.

If necessary, waste the *beep*

Of course, am I American? Hell no Do I like America? No, not very much.

I am a Russian living in Canada, but I have my principles, and when you have an army of what? 20 men? A violent, VIOLENT crowd is throwing molotov cocktails everywhere at you and snipers pick off 3 of your men, MOW EM DOWN!

I would do it. Though if I had a lot of time to think about it (as a fan of this movie would) then I'd probably decide later it wasn't necessarily the best decision. Granted, soldiers' lives would be saved but the political flak America would take for this would be harsh.

reply

It is easy for anyone to sit here behind their computer and say..."No it's unjustified".

The first time you actually hear a bullet zing by your head, feel the heat of a molotov cocktail, or watch one of your men die I am willing to bet that your opinion will change. Actually I'm willing to bet most people will piss their pants and curl up and hope someone rescues them.

reply

*beep* A I would.
