This is a very un-provocative observation, but why were Ann Archer and Ben Kingsley portrayed as having such a young kid? Ann would have been about 50 and Ben about 57 when they conceived the little guy.
I missed that one, but you're right .... Hodges Sr. did look too young to be the Dad.
I guess filmmakers sacrifice reality to book big stars or something ... not sure. It was a watchable and decent film .... but not all that engaging, lol.
It is possible if Grandpa Hodges had Tommy Lee Jones at 21 (or say 17 like Levi Johnston/Bristol Failin) and if Tommy Lee is around say 50 in the movie then Grandpa looked a believable 71.
Tommy Lee's character was specifcally said to be 57, so if his dad fathered him at, say, 25 that makes Grandpa Hodges 82. His mother would probably be 77 or 80 , and neither actor looked anything like that. I do agree re the Kinglsey and Archer pair too, looking far too old to have a child of 5 or whatever the child was. They were said to have only been married ten years however, so his fathering a child at 55 is not unlikely.....
Also, why have an Australian play the lawyer? I love Guy Pearce ,and his accent sounded OK to me , but I'm not American so not a proper judge. Was it meant to be a NY accent? Was it authenntic sounding ?
As someone who lives in NY it sounded nothing like a NY accent. It sounded like a staccato or a stuttered delivery with some weird accent that blended Aussie, somewhat American accents. It wasnt good
And Tommy Lee Jones' mother? Looked more like his ex-wife. In reality, the actress would have been 1 when she had him. Really, Hollywood needs to stop trying to make old men not look, well, old.
