Symbolism/paralleli sm in Impostor (spoilers)

Did anyone notice the comparison that directer Gary Fleder tried to make between Spence and Cale? When Spence is first interrogated by the ESA, you'll note that they immediatly judged him before running scans and tests to see if he really did have a bomb inside of him. Later in the story, slightly after Spence "met" Cale, he (Spence) immediatly assumed that Cale, being a homeless street-rat would only be interested in hallucinatory drugs. So it comes as a great surprise to Spence when he finds out that Cale is not who he appeared to be and instead wishes to help his own kind. So, Fleder sets it up for Spence to be different from what people like Hathaway and ESA believe him to be. So, if our hero is a cyborg carrying a bomb, than he is an impostor of the real Spencer-- but, if he is a telling the truth, than he is an inadvertant impostor of a robot impostor made to look like Spencer. This opens up a whole new doorway to disscussion, but I will close by asking -- did anyone else find some kind of symbol or parallel in this well-made film?
