I haven't seen this movie in awhile, but I do remember being confused as to why there is that sex scene during the opening credits of the movie with Stowe and Sinise. It seemed to me that it was just thrown in there to stimulate and arouse, and to hopefully gain a little more revenue. I just didn't see the connection or the purpose of it with the narrative. But, like I said, I haven't seen it in awhile, and maybe I'm missing something pretty obvious.
shareThey reference that seen near the end and I think it is to set up that they were having sex after returning from the forrest and therefore already replicants. Its to prove how unaware they are of being replicants.
shareThough it is not in the book, I believe it is to show us how human they were. We wouldn't find out until the end their ultimate fate but we had to be shown that they loved each other like human husband and wives do for the ruse to work. The second showing at the end was probably just to remind us that something so human can be a cover for something more insidious.

shareI know posters here are stating it's to show their humanity but you get that more with affection or other ways rather than sex. No, they put that there just to arouse and for titillation as required by many of the modern audience.
