Why did the blond home guard kid 'with youth on his side'...

Always have a bloody nose for no reason? And was that a symptom of some type of illness that kept him home from the war?

I think you might be colour blind, his hair was white and his eyes were purple, he was an albino. People with albinism often have physical conditions, such as being prone to nose bleeds.

I could see that he had very light blond hair but no I couldn't see the colour of his eyes. I don't like assuming things so to me, he may have been albino, may not have.
Thanks for the medical info.

I like how Hollywood always portrays albinos as evil

In sociology science that is a very common, very ancient knee jerk reaction. Because humans are tribal (not so much now) especially eons ago, anyone that didn't fit the tribe or looked weird in some way were mostly killed in childbirth or they were outcast. It's an ancient trait that we still have a bit of. That's why in big cities ethnicities have their own neighbourhoods and that's what also causes racism- our old tribal instincts. Hence albinos are seen as evil. Especially in Africa. Albinos have to form their own villages to protect themselves and because they are cast out of their family's village.
