Especially knowing how it ends. But it's just so beautiful. Jude Laws performance, just heartbreaking.

It was a bleak movie. I don't think I was fully prepared for how dark and sad it would be, and I certainly don't plan to watch it again. That being said, I think they accomplished exactly what they set out to do. I walked away feeling very upset about the senseless of violence and war and pride and all of it... like the fact that the home guard turned on their own people and became villains of the story...ugh. It was just so brutal, but war is an ugly thing and this movie did not make light of that.
