... FUNNIEST, MOST ENJOYABLE, AND LOVABLE CHARACTERS EVER!!!!!!!
If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have liked this movie as much as I did and at a lot of points I would've been so uninterested, but everytime she came on screen I couldn't help but fall in love with her. Haha, just throwing it out here, but her cheeks looked like two huge blueberries were stuck to her face, hahaha... but yeah, she was awesome in this movie...

When the speeding melon hits the wall, it is Christmas for the crows...

And I'm not gonna lie, I'm also glad Nicole Kidman didn't win an oscar for that movie. You could tell she was annoyed by Renee winning it, at the Oscars. Renee was the only thing worth watching the movie.

You know what Dragoneyed363, I really liked you so far, but the fact that "I know what you did last summer " is only 87th on your list kind of ticks me off. Haha you have an amazing list of movies, they're like all my fav's, too ! :)

It is our differences far more than our sameness that will, in the end save humanity.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is one of my personal favorites and the only reason it's so low is because it's been awhile since I last watched it. When I re-watch I have no doubt it'll raise.

Also, Film General would probably slit you at the throat if they saw you told me I had an amazing list of movies, hahaha. According to them I have some of the worst taste they have ever seen, but I don't care, it still hasn't changed my opinions on which films I love and don't love.

I tend to love movies I remember watching a long time ago. It's more like the moment I want back, you know, but I can't have it, so I watch the movie instead. Hard to explain. You're prolly the only person I know who loves all these movies, too ! :)

In fairness, had Kidman's character been more capable, Zellweger's would have been less contrasting, and therefore less comic. It took both of them to make this partnership so much fun to watch

You could tell she was annoyed by Renee winning it, at the Oscars. Renee was the only thing worth watching the movie.

i don't think she was in the slightest. there are also rumours that renee was upset with nicole for winning best actress the year before over her own performance in "the hours", but the two women are supposed to be very good friends actually.
if nicole was annoyed about the oscars that year, it was that the academy had completely snubbed her film "dogville", easily one of the best films of the year, and had snubbed her performance in such for a nomination.

"they should give nicole kidman an oscar for being able to show any emotion after THAT much botox".

I love her comic relief moments. Like after they find Brendan Gleeson shot "You better not die on me again!" and right before the Home Guard shows up "Miss Lovey Dovey!" XDD
Definetly best Renee performance, and probably Jude Law's best too. I'm not very familiar with Nicole Kidman though, I've only seen her in this, The Others, and Australia.

On the run from Johnny Law...Ain't no trip to Cleveland.

She was great. She stole the movie from Nicole Kidman (who I believe is extremely overrated both in looks and acting abilities).

Just saw it today. I was never really a fan of this actress, and I even disliked her; however, her portrayal in this movie is amazing. She took a terrific role and drew every drop of magic she had to bring it to life.

I guess I am a fan now!

From what I remember of the Oscars it had seemed like Renee hadn't been that happy to be winning "Best Supporting Actress". The impression I had got was that she probably would have liked it more if she had Nichole Kidman's part instead.
When I first saw this movie Renee's character Ruby made me laugh more than once. She was defitnitley the comic relief in the movie.

Just my opinion, but I thought she overdid it by a wide margin. Hammy, bordering on absurd. If she won an Oscar, them obviously I'm in the minority, but I thought her performance detracted from the movie for the most part. She just didn't seem believable for me.

Brilliant performance, she was incredibly funny but still was able to show depth in her character and was perfect in the scenes related to her father. A very well deserved Oscar indeed.
