Who would you pick and why?
I liked Rose, even though it took me a while to warm up to her. I probably wouldn't have chosen her though. I would have picked either Jennifer Love Hewitt or Neve Campbell!!!!
Both of them were asked and both turned it down and I think either would've done a better job.
I would've loved to have seen Jennifer play Paige the way she played Melinda Gordon (the name always makes me giggle - thinking of Piper's daughter marrying Dan's son...) in Ghost Whisperer.
And because both were part of television shows, they wouldn't have mailed it in like Rose did when she got bored with television.

shareCould you imagine if they cast Kaley as Paige? I could just imagine them dying her hair brown and passing her off as a natural brunette. I heard Charisma Carpenter auditioned for Paige is that right? I actually thought that could have been pretty cool as I liked her in Season 7 as Kyra but I think they did not want her to leave on Angel at that point right? I really think they also wanted someone who was sort of known, which is probably why they sought Jennifer Love Hewitt and Rose McGowan. I think Jennifer Love Hewitt would have brought a different strength to Paige than Rose did despite that I did end up liking Paige than the other sisters later on.
sharePaige was my favorite of the second set, too, but that had a lot more to do with how much I hated the other two than that I liked her - exception being the first season when Rose McGowan was still engaged.
shareCharisma was a lead on Angel, so she wouldn't have been able to audition for it. Are you maybe thinking of Eliza Dushku? I believe she may have been offered the role, similar to Campbell and Love Hewitt.

Jennifer Love-Hewitt would've been a good choice. She'd have fit in well looks-wise with Holly and Alyssa, and was used to doing TV so she likely would've been happier to be on the show than Rose was. I can see her as Paige, easily.

She was not that well known yet in 2001, but try to imagine the combat skills we got to know her for later as Black Widow and then add Paige's magical powers on top of that.
