Good show but a few things I would have liked to be different

SPOILERS

1. A much bigger part for Lady Harmonsworth (Judy Parfitt) the grandmother of Nanny Hannah Randall's illegitimate baby boy William. Judy Parfitt is a wonderful actress and I would love to have seen her slow transformation from ruthless grieving mother who attempted to steal baby William (the son of her dead son) away from Hannah to a woman who eventually comes to terms with her loss, softens and accepts both Hannah and baby William into her home.

2. Ned Jones, McClusky or Robinson to have been packed off to the colonies on a one way ticket. To my mind he was never good enough for Nanny Matty Wickham, nothing but a bit o' rough and common as muck!

3. Dan "bit o'this bit o' that" Wickham should have realised what a treasure Nanny Lydia Weston was and gone down on his knee and begged her to take and make an honest man of him.

4. That miserable wretch Victoria St John should have ended up being strangled by Captain Mason who then ran off to America leaving Isabel "Dizzy Izzy" Hutchinson behind.

5. Young Thomas St John should have emptied both barrells into Lord Hugh Lambsoff-Scribbler from point blank range instead of merely winging his father Arnold St John, although he thoroughly deserved to be shot too.

6. Poor Mrs Bronowski should never have been hung. And that whole dead infant Charles switched for Nanny Hannah's baby William was just totally bizarre. Talk about lame-brained schemes guaranteed to fail at the first opportunity!

7. Young Bertie Hutchinson should have been packed off to school as well. That kid was seriously creepy!

Some excellent suggestions, Lemon!

It's fun to speculate what will happen next, e.g. when Victoria's baby is born, the spitting image of Captain Mason, moustachioed and forming fours. Heh heh.

It's been a while, but . . .

I was surprised not to see more of Billy's gran. Perhaps if the series had been continued, she'd have saved the day when Billy was (somehow) discovered not to be Charlie, granting him his birthright as a viscount (?) as she accepted Hannah as her ersatz daughter-in-law, who would never again need to "serve."

C'mon, Arnold was a decent guy!

It seemed as though Nanny Simmons had "medicated" Bertie nearly as strongly as she had Charlie. (And no punishment for her?!)

Prediction: Victoria's wretched spawn will be claimed by Dizzy Izzy's cad of a husband, thus ruining the lives of both women.
