First time viewing

Here I am on Halloween day binging on some Christmas movies! (That’ll change this evening.) I’d never seen I’LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS, so I decided to give it a look. What a tonal mess. JTT is made out to be pretty much a jerk, the movie is filled with college smuttiness, and scenes that should’ve been funny often have an underlying cruelty. I’m not expecting an Oscar winning script, but how could they consistently miss the bullseye? JTT has an easy charm and likability about him, but he’s hardly allowed to shine. There are a few funny moments along the way, but the filmmakers’ everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach leaves the movie scattered and unfocused.
