Concept for remake/trilogy

I have this idea for a film trilogy that starts with a "re-imagining" of the original film.

* It would expand the story, explaining the basic back story of the television, Joshua, and The Garbage Man
* It would take place in present day. Sorry, but I need the Internet in this bitch.

* Jeff Blair - Justin Berfield (Malcolm in the Middle alum turned producer)

* The Woman - Angie Everhart
* The Garbage Man - Robert Englund


+++Video Dead 2 (not final title)
++Misc notes:
* Jeff actually is revealed to be alive after biting it in the first one. But how long will his good health last?
* The nature of the "video dead" is revealed
* The back story of the television is expanded
++No new cast choices

* There is a new plot this time, still relating to the "video dead", who now channel themselves into a suburban family's new High-Def television
* The "video dead" are destroyed once and for all
