Why give Cobb (Inception) the same name as the character in Following?
Both characters were thieves. Was Nolan intending to reference his own film? Or is it just coincidence?
Does anybody know?

I guess it's just a reference, you know? Nothing specific about it — but I notice it too and came here to make such thread.

I really doubt that...
"...That's the beauty of argument, Joey. If you argue correctly, you're never wrong..."
did you not hear the sarcasm?
HELP ME!!! I need to know if I am alone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFzThGyt5vM
It could be the same character... maybe his life before he started dream sharing...
shareIt is interesting that he would do it...he obviously didn't forget..
but i doubt it' supposed to be linked...what is cobb's first name in Following? Most authors I have read tend to use similar and even same last names in many novels; they are meant to be different people, they just reuse last names...it is prob the case here
Nolan did that because Cobb in Following and Cobb in Inception are both theives, One of material objects and one of dreams.
shareWhy not? Tarantino does it all the time.
shareTarintino's films take place in the same universe; they are either the same character or related to a character. Same with Kevin Smith in the View Askewniverse.
I like to think that they may be related, or a universal thieving spirit. Or maybe Nolan was trying to draw a parallel; both Cobbs being manipulated. This puts a lot of emphasis on the Michael Caine character in Inception; which I have read a lot about in Inception reviews/interpretations. Just my two cents.
Last film seen: Moon 10/10
Simple. So there would be a thread (or multiple threads) like this. ;-)
